Blogging

Every morning I have the same ritual. I turn on my computer, go make a cup of decaf, and then sit down and check my favorite blogs. I absolutely love keeping up with my distant friends and reading their stories. Some of them are friends from high school, some from Tall Timber (summer camp) and some from college. To join in on their adventures, you can view the list of the blogs on the right hand side. Enjoy!

Elated...at 28 Weeks

Today Bryant and I had an awesome appointment with our midwife, Nancy. I can't believe we are 28 weeks along, and now we are going to the doctor every 2 weeks! Soon we will be down to every 1 week, which blows my mind! We have another ultrasound scheduled for late February, and I can't wait to peek into baby's world again. Nancy confirmed today that he is head down and she showed Bryant how to feel his head. It didn't make little bug too happy, but Bryant was totally excited to feel it!

Everything checked out perfectly, and we are continually praying for more of the same...

We have been so preoccupied with the baby/pregnancy that I haven't been carrying around the camera. I will try to be more consistent in my picture posts. Also, Bryant gave me a camcorder for Christmas, so I will try to post some fun videos soon too.

Thank you so much for your thoughts and prayers. Our cup runneth over.

Week 26

Sorry for the big delay in updates. I have been so busy at work trying to finish up my real estate classes, that I haven't had any extra time during the day. The good news is, I am finished with all of my core classes and am now working through the Colorado and general exam prep classes. My goal is to have my license by the time the baby is born, which is now feeling much more attainable.

January 11th was Bryant's birthday. We celebrated by xc skiing out to Pine Creek Cookhouse with a big group of close friends. Along the way we paused on the trail as someone would share a favorite Bryant memory. We laughed so hard all night. It was a blast! To view pictures, click on the album on the right side of the page.

The baby is growing and growing. My belly feels so big and round, and now I can not only feel but watch him do flip flops. It is really amazing. A few nights ago I fell asleep and Bryant came to bed after me. He put his hand on my belly and felt our little man doing his crazy routine. He was so excited to tell me about it in the morning, and I was so excited that I slept through the whole thing! :)

We have another check up next week. I just realized today that I can deliver in Aspen in as soon as nine weeks (they won't let you deliver up here unless you are 36 weeks pregnant. If you go in to labor, they put you directly on a jet to Grand Junction or Denver...no thanks!)

We are enjoying unseasonably warm and gorgeous weather in Aspen, and I am loving it. I made the decision to stop skiing for the season, which was both hard and easy at the same time. It will be hard to not partake in the adventures, but I don't want to risk any injury to our little man because I wanted to go out for a few turns. And, as a good friend reminded me at the gym last night, I have the rest of my life to ski with my little boy, why would I risk anything now?

So, that is our last week in a tiny nutshell.

Until the next adventure,

Week 25 Belly Picture

Today I am 25 weeks, and 1 day pregnant. Little bug is moving like crazy. Last night while lying in bed, he decided to practice his circus routine. It was actually pretty wild to feel him so active while I was trying to wind down and fall asleep (a major effort these days).

Gary and I have some exciting deals in the pipeline at work, and we are really praying fervently that everything goes through without any hitches (more details to come, when I am free to share).

Today is one of those Colorado winter days that remind me again why I love not only living here so much, but why I love winters in Aspen. It is about 15 degrees outside, there is fresh snow blanketing the valley, and not a cloud to be seen. Simply gorgeous. As I drove over McClain Flats, my elk herd decided to cross the road (I like to take ownership of them, because I always seem to see them in the mornings). Today is a great day. I feel so blessed to have a roof over my head, provision, amazing family and friends, a place to go to work, and last but not least, a healthy little man growing in my womb.

Bryant and I now have the nursery in our radar and plan to get the rooms changed around the next few weeks. This Sunday is Bryant's birthday, so we may have to wait another weekend, but I know it will get done.

Thank you for your continued thoughts and prayers. We love you all.

25 Weeks = Lung Development and Viability

Our lives have been pretty crazy since the holidays. We are trying to get our office/paperwork/taxes all organized before we move the house around and start of the baby's room, since we will be eliminating our office and making it the guest room, which will become the baby's room.

We have managed to get in a few great days of skiing. The powder has been great this year, and perfect for pregnancy skiing. Bryant commented on Sunday that I am skiing the powder and bumps more gracefully than he remembers. It is funny what slowing down and not skiing like a maniac can do! :)

We had a check up last Friday, and everything is measuring right on track and my blood sugars all tested normal. Our next appointment is January 28th with our midwife, Nancy. I feel really great and totally blessed to be mobile and active so far.

This week our little man is continuing to develop his lungs and respiratory system. He should open his eyes for the first time this week, too. Now that he is fully formed, he is refining his movements, growing like a weed and continuing to develop his major systems. He weighs close to two pounds and is about nine inches long (crown to rump). We can't wait to meet him!

Until the Next Adventure,
